Kristy is a pole fitness fanatic! She started pole dancing in 2008 after attending a bachelorette party in Victoria, BC. Quickly becoming addicted to this amazing full body workout she progressed through moves quickly and started developing her own unique style. In 2010 Kristy started Twisted Grip Dance & Fitness teaching out of local recreation centers in Victoria, 2011 brought new changes as students were requesting more and more of her time – Twisted Grip dance studio opened in Duncan BC. Training in flexibility, beginner pole, intermediate pole and some advanced pole, bootcamps and spin bike classes were all on the schedule. A highlight of training with Kristy was competition prep, star pupil Angela Warnock placed 2nd in BC Pole Championships Semi-Pro division in 2012 with Kristy’s training and choreography.
Kristy’s focus has always been that pole fitness is for everyone! Men are welcome to her classes, women of all shapes and sizes and perhaps even disabilities, as well she started a children’s class. The children focused pole fitness class received international media attention and Kristy was featured in many newspaper articles, Canadian news shows and even on the Anderson Cooper Live show in New York to talk about this controversial topic. As a result, Kristy’s love for the sport and art deepened and she decided to take her choreography and training to new levels. Unfortunately this meant the closure of Twisted Grip’s physical location, however she still does choreography and distance training through webcam lessons available for sign up here under Online Lessons.
